OLI project life & road is as bumpy as a tennis player’ career can be. Good news – we are moving on, and most of unforeseen circumstances – like injuries and team changes – seem to stay behind us.
1. We are doing the (positively) HUGE thing
Whether this ever be recognized by wider public & sports community – an Athletic Career Token is a revolutionary concept of pro athletes complex development & management. It can drastically change the landscape of professional sports, making it more fair, open & inclusive. So – yes, we are doing history here.
2. We are making mistakes
From specifically tennis-related things (for instance, inviting high-profiled coaches instead of simply improving the processes worked before) to more general issues. Sometimes that’s purely our fault. Sometimes it is just happened. What we can do about it is – try to be better each & every day.
3. There are players & teams achieving faster, better tennis results
This is true. How to live with that :-)? Our approach is to concentrate solely on our athlete & her performance, make OLI community efforts & experience exchange working and effective… and let all the rest just happen.
4. We will overcome a crypto bear market
What have not killed us, made us stronger. It is clear now that our project & community is surviving this bear market, and our “bullet-proofness” will only rise with the time!
5. Grand Slam is our target
We are still pretty sure that playing Grand Slams main draw is more than realistic. We can’t say whether it is gonna be the 1st or the last (aka final) round. But we will definitely be able to see Oleksandra playing Roland Garros and Wimbledon.
P.S. Am I too confident? Nope. If I would, she’d already been there.
First of all, we would like to send the best vibes to all who celebrate Christmas on December 25. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year, we wish you a lot of luck, safety, harmony and inspiration.
This is very symbolic that Sasha’s return to the active tennis career is happening on the New Year eve. This year was so mixed, we had everything here from lucky moments of finding incredible support from $OLI community, meeting absolutely amazing people like our Patriarchs who believe in Sasha & team and make this story possible… to the huge disappointment of getting the longest injury break in Sasha’s career, fighting against pain, spending countless hours in hospitals, physio procedures etc.
In this article we explain in detail what’s happened, what’s now and what you can expect both from tennis (THAT IS ALWAYS THE MAIN!) and non-tennis activities in the nearest future.
It is less than a month passed since the last match of our player – but it seems that much more time has come away. Whether this pause is good or bad? What’s happening here – with tennis and non-tennis things? What is the future – nearest and not-so-nearest? Our opinion on all of it is further in the post.
It is good to be bored
Well, any injury is bad… but sometimes injuries actually bring some positive side effects. It is an obvious fact: “the tournament race” is a process that actually leaves just a little space for long-term actions and intentions. Even if a player is financially secure (which is the case for Oleksandra – thanks again to all OLICRYPTO players) – the nature of points racing itself urges a player to go play tournaments. Hurry up. Take those points & bucks. Otherwise, others will do that.
In this sense, an injury break – if the injury is not heavy, of course – gives the whole team some time much needed for at least medium-term goals pursuing. We now can do tennis things slowly but surely – not being scared by tournaments coming soon.
What about the ranking?
It is natural that a temporary pause will affect the ranking position. Old points gonna be burn, and new ones won’t be acquired. At the same time, we recently saw that just ONE (!) successful $25k event in Estonia brought us 150+ positions in the WTA ranking. You also remember that Sasha showed a pretty decent level of play there – so with injury properly treated & healed, we can use that level as a jumping mesh, not a concrete ceiling!
Is injury serious?
Basically, it is not injury AT ALL. Sasha had a muscle squeezing because her body is still not strong enough for high-performance overloads. So we do not in need to heal her, but rather need to develop her overall physical condition – by conditioning practices, physiotherapy, proper recovery.
We are also doing plenty of specific tennis things. Lots of time was spent on improving her 1st serve, cleaning & improving the attack shots technique. Basically, if you ask me when Sasha is ready (by her level) to play tournaments again, I answer: NOW. But our goal for now is to make her ready to play 2, 3, if necessary 4 events in a row.
We also have a pretty positive financial situation as there are no tournament expenses & no significant injury-related costs. Also, we have most of the Bitcoin Cash Van costs already financed. We expect to have the second month in a row with a proficite – so the project reserves at the end of October will be bigger than in the beginning.
Wen play again?
We expect Sasha to be able to play competitive matches again somewhen at the beginning of November. Her head coach, Matea, and to some extent our physio Mislav be those who have the final votes.
Will keep you informed.
Please read below what has happened last days in the game process – or what’s gonna happen soon.
OLI Reserve is a pool formed by the hero & her team according to the standards (percentages) accepted by the majority of players’ votes. This pool serves as a depository for funds aimed to pay present & future costs of practices, travels, equipment purchases, etc. Reserved funds can be staked, pooled, or farmed outside, with proceeds compounded or distributed between the players.
There are several types of “Out-of-Game Activities” by the hero & team.
The proceeds earned by the hero during the majority of tennis tournaments participated (licensed by WTA, ITF, UTR, national tennis federations, as well as exhibition matches, private tournaments, etc.) are the subject of distribution among the players (OLI Token holders) after rules of distribution applied. Please also read the “Out-of-Game Activities” post to know what tournaments are excluded from the prize money distribution procedure.
This article is a detailed description of how the prize money is distributed.
